Contract Drafting in English (12 hours)

This practical, structured course is designed to give you a thorough introduction to English contract drafting in the 21st century. The aims of the course are to help you:

  • understand the formation, structure, and interpretation of English contracts.

  • understand the essential differences between English contracts and those of other jurisdictions

  • understand the kind of language you will see in English contracts

  • understand the essential principles for drafting an English contract

  • draft concise and precise contract clauses, including boilerplate, confidentiality, termination, and transfer clauses


Level of English required: Good B1 and above (on the Common European Framework of Reference).


Introduction to English Law (Academic) (30 hours)

This course is designed to give you a thorough, academic introduction to some core subjects in English law.

In this course, you will study the following ‘core’ subjects:

  • Contract law

  • Tort law (civil wrongs), and

  • Criminal law


You can also choose 2 further options to study, from:

  • Commercial law

  • Business law (corporate)

  • Equity and Trusts

This course is aimed at anyone taking the TOLES (Test of Legal English Skills) Advanced course and exam. This course is designed to:

  • Provide a thorough overview of the Advanced exam and what is expected of you

  • Give you tips, techniques and strategies for answering TOLES Advanced examination questions

  • Give you practice (with full feedback) at developing the written and other skills you need to do well in the TOLES Advanced exam.
